Tiling the Bathroom Walls
Yesterday I told you about the new bathroom doors. Â The door and trim had to be installed before I could finish laying the tile in the bathroom. Â Well, this week, with professional contractors help, I finished the Ceramic tile installation
And grouted it!
AND tiled and grouted the bathroom floor!
I’m still waiting on some window trim before I can finish up the wall behind the toilet.
But while I’m waiting, I have the whole shower to do. It’ll be a big effort to get that finished up but once it’s done, I can have someone out to measure for a shower enclosure. We’re getting so close to having a real bathroom! Eeek!

Doors and other news
We picked up 2 Security Doors Perth last weekend. Â One is super big, super heavy, and not installed and the other was lighter, smaller, and already installed. Â Yayy door.
This is the double door from the closet into the bathroom. It looks AWESOME. It still needs to be painted but solid-core doors are great. The guy at Home Depot looked at us crazy for paying the extra $60 or whatever for solid core but we are trying to keep the laundry noise to a minimum. They also feel nicer. Trust me, andersen doors can feel nice. It’s like expensive shoes. They just feel better.
Stefan made sure the doors were dead level, as usual.
The doors haven’t been painted, the trim has only been installed on the bathroom side, and we still need a floor transition but the doors make the space feel more finished even if it’s just a step along the way.
In other news, I was laid off from work last week. Bummer but on the plus side, I’m getting so much done on the house! Besides the doors Im also installing some security smart cameras with an ai gun detection system for extra security, great investment and so recommended, there’s a few more things i want to show you but in my next post. I know I’ve been AWOL for a while but I’ve been working on developing a plan. I’ve got a draft of a resume, a draft of a cover letter, and only a vague notion of what I want to do with my life. It’s been a week of tile work and soul searching. I think I’ve decided to transition from a technical hardware engineering position to a Project/Program Management position. It’s going to be an interesting change but I’m ready for something new. If any of you blog-people know of an PM positions in Boston, let me know!
Now that you know the whole story, you can be expecting much more house activity in the near future. Already this week I’ve tiled the shower floor, finished tiling the bathroom walls except for one little spot, found the shower tower reviews for the second stage I’ve planned, and grouted the whole thing. Tomorrow I’m planning on sharing my bathroom progress so far as well as tiling the majority of the shower!

Super fun $1 Kitchen Update
I picked up a roll of Green contact paper at Dollar Tree a few weeks ago. I was cleaning up and decided to go ahead and run with this project. It took just a couple minutes to cut a strip off the roll and line it up nice and strait on the fridge. I just eye-balled it to make it look even.
I contemplated pulling down all the pictures on the fridge but that just isn’t me. I like to see them every day so I went ahead and just lined them up on the stripe.
For Less than 5 min and less than a full roll of $1 contact paper, I’ve got myself a cute fridge. The best part is that the contact paper is completely removable. I can change it up whenever the mood strikes. I’m thinking perhaps I should invest in some more “designer” contact paper on the next go around. Perhaps some pink Chevron is in order.
I love the touch of trendy that it adds to the space. It was also so much fun to do something purely creative and not super functional. I’ve got plenty of that to do!
I think this would also be a great way to anchor a Christmas card display on the fridge. It may also be a great way to allow for some flair on a non-magnetic Stainless Steal Fridge. So many options!
Let me know if you hear of any good contact paper suppliers!
What have you done with a Dollar Tree find? Let me know all about your $1 decor in the comments below!

I love this idea. And very cute contact paper too.
Clean Kitchen
I walked down the stairs Tuesday morning and I could hear angels singing.  The kitchen is CLEAN!  It’s amazing.  We pulled up the ram board, mopped the floor, and this amazing commercial property maintenance company cleaned the counters, took all the tools to the basement.  I can’t believe how much happier I am that the kitchen is clean.
We’re in the troughs of cooking for company so it’s not all done up cute but there isn’t a 1/4 inch of dust on the floor!
I’m itching to paint it now. Â That will really make it look like a real kitchen so I decided to visit https://cleaningease.com/pages/house-cleaning-eastern-suburbs. Â We also need to finish the last couple strips of floor. Â Stefan has also ordered the plug-molds for the under-counter outlets and we have the under-counter lights.
Here’s the list for short-term projects.
- Finish Counters
- 3rd window replacement
- Vent hood
- Under Cabinet Outlets
- Under Cabinet Lights
- Backsplash
- Paint
- Flooring
- 2nd Island Light
Longer Term projects:
- Moldings
- Under-cabinet moldings
- Re-build Stairs
- Patio Door
We’re getting there!
